WHAT IS DGS?

DGS Entertainment is an independent entertainment company largely focused on music. DGS was originally founded in 1997 by Corey Morris, Jon Glen & Kevin Bradley, who previously reached critically acclaimed success as the group known as the “KHAMELEONS”, signed to the likes of Zoo Entertainment/BMG Music Group with co-founder Corey Morris striking a solo deal with Afrika Bambata (founding father of Zulu Nation and by those who are rap historians the “God Father of Hip-Hop”). Although after having received a record deal, complications of industry limitation and creative differences lead the 3 to decided to create their own label to have complete creative freedom. But, years later the partners found joy in other aspects outside of music and some started families. When Corey and his wife had their first child he had the intention to have the DGS name be passed down in the family to let his son have a legitimate and legal brand to do with whatever he pleases. DGS is a family brand and company, but family isn’t just blood related; family is a mindset and a respect level which is the very core value in which DGS is based upon and will continue to be based upon.

When current CEO Malik Morris decided to partner with one of his closest friends and collaborators, Jack DeNicola, to rebrand and repackage the company his father once was at the helm of. They sought to combine the message of the old DGS initiative with the new DGS initiative. Original founders of DGS created it in a time where black artist were only allowed to make music about topics that were demeaning to their community for example: selling drugs, gang affiliation, disrespecting women, reckless impregnation, which all have the potential to destroy the black community. In retaliation DGS approached music making with a more cognitive focus with the intentions of uplifting the community and giving others a sense of sanctuary both literally and figuratively. While carrying on that original initiative new founders would like to exemplify the meaning of Distinguished Gentleman Society.

We exhibit a collective of artists who DISTINGUISH themselves from the rest of the crowd both sound wise, stylistically, personality wise, and as an intellect. Day in and day out showcasing what makes each one of us… us! Secondly, despite all vices and negative qualities, all artist maintain a GENTLEMAN suave and vibe, meaning we stand tall and strong in who we are as an individual and an artist not allowing that to be compromised! Lastly, as stated before DGS is a family company and as a member or fan of DGS you are joining a new family, anybody under the DGS Entertainment umbrella and fan base are your brother and sisters and should be treated with that respect. Fellow artist, collective members, and fans will motivate and cheer on each other as we reach our successes because as cliché as it may be when 1 succeeds, we all succeed. The only way a SOCIETY prospers is through undying unity!
